Ultrasound

Veterinary ultrasonography is now every bit as sophisticated as in human medicine. Ultrasound can be a vital tool for the identification of pregnancy, bladder stones, tumours, cancer, gall stones, adrenal disease or other features of the normal – or abnormal – abdomen. The chest is another area that is frequently assessed, particularly for evaluation of heart murmurs, cardiac disease or chest fluid. Ultrasound may also be used to guide biopsy procedures. Ultrasound services are provided at Turramurra by internationally renowned veterinary imaging specialists, Associate Professor Graeme Allen and Dr Robert Nicoll, who also lecture at the University of Sydney, or by specialists from Northside Veterinary Specialists.

Ultrasound may be used for diagnostic purposes, to evaluate the heart or abdominal organs, to facilitate biopsy, or for pre-surgical planning to achieve optimal surgical outcomes.
